Catalina Island Trip for Zoology/Botany Students

The Catalina Island trip is an opportunity available each May to students in the Zoology and Botany class. Students are able to travel to the remote Channel Islands and spend three days immersed in the study of marine biology. Highlights include snorkeling through the kelp forests unique to the California coast, night snorkeling with the opportunity to sea leopard sharks, bat rays, and sheep crabs, marine touch tanks, terrestrial and plant labs, and a combined night hike and astronomy program. DaVinci students are instructed by recent college graduates, most of whom have studied and possess a deep passion for marine biology. The remote location, access to a wealth of educational recourses and exposure to well-educated young professionals makes this trip an outstanding opportunity for all who attend. Year after year students return and say it was, “the best field trip they have ever been on!”
The Zoology and Botany students would like to extend an invitation to the Da Vinci community.  Ms. Rottenberg and her zoo/bot classes are hosting a taco bar dinner and silent auction event in order to raise funds for their Catalina Island marine immersion trip.
